Found in the 10th century dictionary Wamyōshō, the Oni at the time had the meaning "a soul/spirit of the dead". Oni are mostly known for their fierce and evil nature manifested in their propensity for murder and cannibalism. They are typically portrayed as hulking figures with one or more horns growing out of their heads. They are conceived of as red, blue, black, yellow, or white-colored.
ABOUT THE BLADE
Mythic #5 ONI is a stainless blade designed to be a long Nakiri workhorse. A Nakiri, cleaver hybrid. I took inspiration from the knives that you see street food vendors use in Asian cultures. It's a fast passed chopper that has a balanced weight behind it to drive through a lot of material quickly. This is the first hidden tang Mythic and as such it needed to be special. The handle is a Japanese WA handle with facets that give the impression of Japanese armor. Also, the handle has a red and black carbon fiber spacer that glows in the dark. All together this knife brings the Myth of the ONI life in a solid kitchen tool that longs to be used.
